In Anthropology 1: Uncovering Human Mysteries you will trace the history of homo sapiens and explore our evolutionary trail. This course offers an anthropological lens to observe our movement from cave dweller to modern humans. It sheds light on how we forged our way and developed all of the things that make us human, such as our cultures, languages, and religions. We, as humans in the 21st century, are highly intelligent, innovative people with astounding technological ability – how did we get this way?

In this course, you will pull together and apply skills and concepts from the previous Mathematics courses. You will begin by focusing on how expressions and functions can model relationships. The course has a concentrated focus on polynomial, radical, and rational functions, so you will expand your arithmetic skills to include polynomial, radical, and rational expressions and equations. You will analyze their key features with tables, graphs, and equations when they are in function form. You will also investigate and measure surface area and volume of geometric solids, applying what you discover to model and solve real-world problems.

This course is designed to present mathematics as a coherent, useful, and logical subject that makes use of problem-solving skills. The focus is on quadratic expressions, equations, and functions. You will compare their characteristics and behavior to those of linear and exponential relationships and solve quadratic equations that have real and complex solutions. Finally, you will investigate and prove theorems about lines, angles, and triangles.

This course is designed to present mathematics as a coherent, useful, and logical subject that makes use of problem-solving skills. Linear relationships are a main focus of this course. You will graph, create, and solve linear equations and apply function notation to describe linear relationships. You will also explore foundations of geometry and coordinate geometry. You will investigate and prove theorems about lines, angles, triangles, parallelograms, and other polygons and build geometric constructions using both basic tools and technology.
HALF-CREDIT HIGH SCHOOL COURSE
Modern humans have been roaming the earth for about 200,000 years. How do the places we live influence the way we live? How do geography, weather, and location relate to our customs and lifestyles? In Human Geography: Our Global Identity, you will explore the diverse ways that different people have physically influenced the world around them and how they, in turn, are changed by their surroundings. Discover how beliefs and ideas spread through time, shaping and changing the cultures they encounter. In this course, you’ll gain tremendous insight into human geography and begin to better understand the important relationship between humans and their environments.
HALF-CREDIT HIGH SCHOOL COURSE
This one-semester course is focused on the Holocaust, a tragic time in history that resulted in the killing of six million Jewish people in Europe. Students trace this period in history from the aftermath of the First World War to the roots of anti-Semitism and the rise of Adolf Hitler to the aftermath of the Holocaust. The 14 lessons in the course explore the history of the Jewish community in Europe and what they were subjected to at the hands of the Nazis, including their experiences in the ghettos, concentration camps, and extermination camps. Students learn about how Nazis victimized non-Jewish people who were against the Third Reich. The course also covers the Jewish resistance and their fight for liberation, the trials after the Second World War, and the impact of the Holocaust on the world. This course combines a variety of content types, including lessons, activities, discussions, and games to keep students engaged as they trace this tragic period in history.

In this course, you will explore how the spheres of Earth are connected to create and maintain a habitable planet. You will apply principles learned previously about outer space, our solar system, and the planets to understand Earth’s place in outer space. You will evaluate how internal and external processes interact with one another and will analyze current and historical data to predict what future Earth may look like.

This course will go beyond the superficial of fitness and dig into the science behind it. You will explore the basics of how to assess your baseline fitness, design and implement a fitness plan, fuel your body to achieve your fitness goals, and stay safe while improving your health.
